Onboarding: Train Your AI
Give your AI Employee real knowledge about your business to draw from.
Overview
Training teaches your AI Employee about your specific business — services, pricing, policies, FAQs — by uploading documents, pasting text, or letting it read your published website, so its answers are accurate rather than generic.

Why it exists
An AI Employee is only as useful as what it knows. This step exists because generic AI answers ("please contact us for pricing") satisfy no one — training closes the gap between a general-purpose assistant and one that actually knows your business.
Benefits
- Accepts multiple source types: uploaded documents, pasted text, and your own published website content.
- Updates take effect quickly — no retraining delay measured in days.
- Sources are private to your account only; nothing you upload is shared across businesses.
Step-by-step guide
- Go to AI Features → Train Your AI.
- Upload documents that answer common customer questions — service lists, pricing sheets, FAQs, policies.
- Optionally add your published website as a knowledge source so it stays in sync with what's public.
- Add a few example prompts and ideal answers for edge cases you want handled a specific way.
- Test it: open the AI Assistant or a test conversation and ask the exact questions customers usually ask.
Tips
- Prioritize the questions customers ask most often — a short, focused FAQ document often outperforms a huge, unfocused one.
- Re-upload documents whenever pricing or policies change; the AI only knows what it's been given.
Best Practices
- Test with real, previously-asked customer questions rather than hypothetical ones — it's the fastest way to spot gaps.
Common Mistakes
- Uploading outdated pricing or policy documents. The AI will confidently repeat whatever it's given, including anything stale — keep sources current.
- Assuming it "already knows" public information about your industry. Training is about your specific business, not general industry knowledge — be explicit.
Troubleshooting
If the AI gives an answer that contradicts an uploaded document, check for a second, older document covering the same topic — the most recent conflicting sources are a common cause.
