Meet the AI Assistant

Your always-available guide to running OnePilot — describe what you want, and it does the work or shows you where.

Overview

The AI Assistant is the small chat icon available from anywhere in OnePilot. It's not a separate tool bolted onto the side — it can see your account's real state (what's connected, what's not) and can act directly in most modules on your behalf, not just answer questions about them.

Why it exists

A platform with this many modules has a lot of surface area to learn. Rather than expecting you to read every guide before getting value, the Assistant lets you describe an outcome in plain language — "draft a follow-up email for the lead I just added" — and it either does it or takes you straight to the right place already set up.

Benefits

  • Knows your business. It reads from your Company Profile and account activity, so answers and drafts are specific to you, not generic.
  • Can take action, not just explain. In supported modules it can draft an email, summarize a conversation, propose a workflow, or generate campaign copy directly — you review and approve before anything goes out.
  • Available everywhere. The same Assistant follows you from the Dashboard into the CRM, Communications, or Studio — no separate chatbot per module.
  • Always cites what it's working from. When it answers using your own data (a contact, a past conversation), it says so rather than presenting a guess as fact.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Click the Assistant icon, available on every screen in OnePilot.
  2. Type what you want in plain language — a question ("what's my busiest day for calls?") or a task ("write a subject line for this promotion").
  3. If the Assistant proposes an action (sending a message, creating a task), review the preview before confirming — nothing customer-facing sends automatically without your approval.
  4. Continue the conversation naturally; the Assistant keeps context within the session.

Tips

  • Be specific about the outcome, not the mechanism — "get more reviews from happy customers" works better than trying to name the exact feature yourself.
  • If a draft isn't quite right, tell the Assistant what to change rather than starting over; it keeps the context of what you already discussed.

Best Practices

  • Treat AI-drafted, customer-facing content (emails, social posts, replies) as a strong first draft early on — review before sending until you've built confidence in how it sounds for your brand.
  • Keep your Company Profile current — it's the main thing that makes the Assistant's output sound like your business instead of a generic one.

Common Mistakes

  • Assuming the Assistant sends things automatically. Anything customer-facing is a draft until you approve it — it will not message a customer on your behalf without confirmation.
  • Being too vague and expecting mind-reading. "Help with marketing" gets a much weaker result than "write three social captions promoting our weekend sale."

Troubleshooting

If the Assistant's answers seem generic or off-brand, check that your Company Profile (Settings → Company Profile) is filled in — most personalization comes from there.
